Instead of attacking the vending machine for that Snickers bar, opt for one of these 5 healthy choices that will satisfy your hunger and keep your weight in check (but remember, everything in moderation!) Almonds: The monounsaturated fat contained in almonds satisfies your appetite and can prevent over-eating. Just 1/4 cup of almonds contains about 4 grams of fiber, making you feel fuller, longer. Dark Chocolate: Did you know that a little dark chocolate can curb your appetite? The bitter taste signals the body to decrease your appetite and the steric acid in dark chocolate helps to slow digestion. Try savoring a piece or two with at least 70 percent cocoa the next time you crave it. Popcorn: Plain popcorn is high in fiber and relatively low in calories. My favorite brand is SkinnyPop – guilt-free with no artificial flavors or colors, no preservatives, non-GMO, and gluten-free. One serving contains 3 grams of fiber and 150 calories. Avocados: Avocados get their creamy texture from healthy monounsaturated fats, which take a long time for our bodies to digest and, therefore, can help suppress appetite. Avocados are also full of fiber (one half of a medium sized avocado contains about 7 grams!)
